The much anticipated successor, the sought after heir to the limousine throne, has finally arrived in the form of the Bentley Mulsanne. It is the very first limousine design created from the ground up since the famed 1930 8 liter.

Dirk van Braeckel, the design boss of Crewe, helped create the limo. It is distinguished from the Continental Flying Spur, a smaller sedan, in a number of ways, namely its monumental physical presence as well as its elegant, baroque style.

We do not know a lot about the Mulsanne, because Bentley is remaining mum on a lot of the details until the limo is properly unveiled later this month, at the motor show in Frankfurt. However, by all available accounts, it is getting mixed reviews. We know it has a large, vertical front grille, a shoulder line that is rather like a locomotive in style, and that the classic front fender seen on the modern Bentleys gets a bit interrupted.

Well, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson for one, but I’m not like him (I don’t have a bolding head, and I’m not eight feet tall).
