Outdoing Honda and Toyota in the car world is not an easy task, but Ford has done it with the Escape SUV, taking the top spot when it comes to safety and fuel economy. For the year 2010, Ford is making its steps to help maintain and widen that lead by enhancing the Escape SUV with five new safety elements.

First is the McKey (on Limited models and XLT) which permits the owners of the Escape to set or program the unit of the car’s top speed and likewise, the audio volume. Aside from that, it can also be set to turn on warning sounds when the car is revving up at 45 mph, 55 mph or at 65 mph and will flash with seatbelt prompts and to give off warnings for low-fuel ahead of time.

Second is the Active Park Assist, to make parking trouble free for teens and adults. It can actually locate a spot for parking, drives and parks the driver into that spot. All the driver has to mind is the gas pedal and the brake.

The SUV is also enhanced with the Integrated Spotter Mirrors and Rear View Camera System that will make the driver have the total visibility around his car and will allow maximum driving security. Lastly is the SYNC which will make the driver in touch with traffic situations, and some problems that can be detected in advance.

The price of the 2010 Escape SUV is not yet released, but it was assured that the price won’t be increased too much from its current base price of $21,160.

Horsepower and torque have always been equated to a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, Bugatti, or a Volvo.

Volvo is entering the pack that produces brute power with the release of the most powerful truck. It has a monster output of 700 horsepower and torque hitting the scales at 2323 lb-ft.

The truck is tagged as the FH16 designed for the most demanding operations on the road. If you need pull other monster machines like bulldozers, the FH16 can hurdle all the heavy challenges.

The old sibling of the FH16 has a power plant of 650 horsepower. The new truck will make Autobot’s Optimus Prime envious of its 16 liters, turbo charged diesel engine with six cylinder and intercooler.

The most powerful truck has been on the drawing boards and development for the past three years. The truck has been subjected to areas where other trucks will not dare run: the Australian deserts, frosty northern tip of Sweden, and the heights of the Rocky Mountains. It passed it all.

The Volvo FH16 is also equipped with a 230 kilowatt exhaust brake that is efficiently controlled by an electronic system. This can get an optional upgrade to a 425 kilowatts.

Two other variants of the FH16 are available for those who don’t need to max the raw power. Volvo is also releasing a 600 hp and 540 hp versions of the truck.

Volvo is proud in citing that the FH16 meets the new emission standards of Europe that will be implemented next fall.
