Ford and UAW contract changes begin to leak out!
When you think about it – UAW is a union that really takes care of their employees and since they have been in negotiations with Ford – their contract details have really been kept under lock and key. Not anymore folks! Finally, their contract details are leaking out slowly but surely and they are good for both parties involved. They actually have come up with a tentative contract for them to look at.
UAW actually agreed to freeze the wages of entry level workers that are making $14.00 per hour until the agreement ends in 2011 and UAW also lifted the cap that limits the amount of low-cost workers in the plants until 2015. When those jobs are limited to 20% of the workforce in the past; however, it will still all be in order to seniority. The union has also limited the amount of jobs that are classified as skilled trade and submit the 2007 contract into a binding arbitration when the contract expires in 2011.
I think that the contract actually is going to be a give a little take a little type of contract and that works best!
