Nissan showcases Extrem Sports Concept in Sao Paolo

Nissan recently unwrapped a new concept vehicle that it will officially unveil during the auto show in Sao Paolo. The vehicle called the Extrem blends the qualities of a sports car and that of a crossover. The Extrem Concept was designed by the people at Nissan Design America in California.

The team that worked on the vehicle describes it as an urban rally ride that is perfect for young couples who enjoy their city life but from time to time want to enjoy the outdoors. The Extrem has a higher ground clearance that shows its strength off the road. The sloping roof line suggests its sporty capabilities.

The cabin has an airy and open design achieved with the wraparound glass, C pillars that are detached, and floating rails on the roof. The rest of the car makes use of the current Nissan favorites like raked windshield, daytime driving lights, and angular headlights.

The exterior of the Extrem also gets the new Nissan color called the Solar Cortex. Some new elements include the roof’s matte finish and bright 19-inch rims. The Extrem will also make use of the V-platform that is currently used by Nissan March.

If the Nissan will give the Extrem the thumbs up for production, the vehicle make use of a 1.6L turbocharged engine that is based on what the Nissan Juke and Delta Wing are using. The platform of the vehicle is also capable of being configured as a front- or all-wheel drive.

The Japanese car manufacturer has not announced anything yet about the production of the Xtrem but the compact crossover is certainly getting popular across different markets. There is a rumor though that a FWD hatch will be positioned just below the 370Z and we will not be surprised if it will be something similar to the Xtrem.
